As the usual
Ross-on-Wye Gala Day did not take place this year, Mary Sinclair-Powell
of Ross Heritage
Centre and Jo Ashman of Halcyon Daze came to the rescue
by arranging an Arts and Crafts Day at the Market House and
Gordon Lucas arranged a Vintage Motorcycle Display in 'The Maltings'.
It is nice to see that some people are still willing to try
to keep a community spirit going in Ross-on-Wye by putting on
these events. By the way, whatever happened to the pancake
races on Shrove Tuesday and other regular events like 'It's
a Knockout?' It would be nice to see some of these events return.
have spread my photographs of today's 'Arts and Crafts Day'
over three pages. On
this page you can see woodworking and spinning going on in the
Market House, Chloe Cook, who sang 'Donalogue,' an Irish folk
song and 'Free Bird,' a Lynard Skynard' song unaccompanied and
beautifully as well as Mel Hodges, who kept the day going with
commentary and music. Belly
Dancers, 'Jawahir' and the 'Flying Carpet Percussion Group'
can be seen on page
two and on page
three you can see the Maltings Motorcycle exhibition, along
with Doug Eaton and his art plus some of the other exhibitors.
I hope you enjoy looking at this record of the day's events.
of you who have seen me photographing at local events will be
well aware that I have taken many more photographs than published
on the pages of this web site. Over the past four years, I have
taken well in excess of twenty seven thousand photographs of
Ross-on-Wye, so if you cannot see what you are looking for on
the site and I was at the event, chances are I will have what
you are looking for recorded.
