streets of Ross-on-Wye were lined with thousands of people
on Saturday, 17th December. The
crowds were awaiting the arrival of Santa, who pays an annual
visit to the town before Christmas to see how good all of
the children have been and to give each and every one of
them a pre-Christmas present. Whilst waiting for Santa to
arrive, Ross Town Band and the singers of St. Mary's Church
kept the people entertained with some lovely Christmas music.
Mr. Brian Jackson compered the event, keeping the crowds
informed as to when they could expect to see Santa Claus.
around 5pm, a torch lit procession, comprising local Scouts,
Cubs, Brownies, Rainbows and Phoenix Majorettes led Santa
and his special guest Shaun the Sheep up to Ross Market
House, where Ross Town Mayor, Councillor David Ravenscroft
was waiting to welcome them. Santa then wished everybody
a Merry Christmas and waited for the children to come through
the archways after being given their presents, so that they
could chat to him and tell him all about what they wanted
Christmas Carnival Committee would like to thank everybody
who helped to make Santa's visit such a wonderful occasion.
