4th November 2011 GHOSTIES AND GHOULIES AND LONG LEGGED BEASTIES

Please forgive the pun but The Eagle Inn has recently become a favourite haunt of mine, (sorry!) and both this lovely main street pub and Charlie's Bar were brilliantly decked out to celebrate Hallowe'en. Most of the staff were given the task of carving pumpkins into the most horrible looking 'things to ward off evil' and on Saturday, so many people dressed up to get into the spirit of the occasion (Sorry, again!).

Andy and Maria Gooding really went to town to create a great party atmosphere, arranging apple bobbing for the kids and other games, offering some blood curdling cocktails for sale and holding a fancy dress competition in each of the bars, which I was asked to judge. The choices were very difficult to make as there were so many people in such fantastic costumes but in the end, four winners were finally chosen.

At The Eagle Inn, Claire White and Megan Hughes took the prizes, then later at Charlie's Bar, Jen 'Si's Bride' Stephens and Paul 'Werewolf' James were the winners and a brilliant time was had by all.

This young lady soon got the hang of apple bobbing.

A sick pumpkin, carved by Megan Hughes.

A fine group of Super Heroes out to protect us all from, who knows what?

Ollie's Dracular outfit, complete with coffin was brilliant.

Beetlejuice, aka Andy Gooding with his lovely lady, Maria.

Megan Hughes receives her prize from Maria.

Claire White collects her prize from Maria. All three girls looked amazing

The bewitching Teresa Cooper.

Sam Mason made a brilliant Zombie. (Or did a Zombie make a brilliant Sam Mason?)

4th November 2011 MOVING SWIFTLY ON TO CHARLIES BAR

After leaving the fun at The Eagle Inn, I swiftly amde my way up to Charlie's Bar where lots of people in fancy dress were enjoying the great party atmosphere, as well as waiting to be judged. I say 'swiftly' as there were many spooky and horrible looking people all around Ross-on-Wye on Saturday evening and I didn't want to take any chances.

It was great to see so many people enjoying Hallowe'en again this year. Many people put a lot of effort into making it a really fantastic occasion and I thoroughly enjoyed covering the event.

A 'creepy' couple I met on my way to Charlie's Bar.

It was good to see lots of people putting in an effort to dress up this year.

Si Smith and Jen 'Si's Bride' Stephens!

This werewolf just had to be the winner.

The DJ at Charlie's Bar, looking very scary.
