4th November 2011 HAPPY HALLOWE'ENERS AT THE HOPE KARAOKE

The monthly Karaoke at the Hope & Anchor last Friday was a little different to their usual last Friday in the month event, for instead of the usual crowd of Jen, Tim, Mark, Chris, etc. turning up to give their finest renditions to an adoring public, there was Dracular, Beetlejuice, and a whole host of other horror film stars taking their place.

The pub was decorated out with some great Hallowe'en regalia and the event was a whole lot of fun. Landlords, Rick and Debbie really got into the spirit of the evening and even provided some delicious food for their 'horrible' guests of all ages to enjoy.

How can anything that looks so horrible have such a lovely voice?

Dracular sings a devilish duet with Mark.

'Horrors' of all ages enjoyed the fun event.

This happy couple mysteriously appear through the mist.

The ghouls take to the floor.

4th November 2011 MORE GHOSTLY GOINGS ON AT THE MAN OF ROSS

Once I had recovered from the Friday night Frights at the Hope & Anchor, I went in search of more Hallowe'en fun on Saturday evening. I didn't need to look too far however and arrived at the Man of Ross just in time to join in with the Graveyard Walk that had been arranged. Over fifty people took part in the walk which involved a spooky trip up through St. Mary's Churchyard, along towards The Glebe, through the turnstile and along the bottom end of the cemetery, up the steps and through The Prospect Gardens and back down to the Man. I left the main party to get a head start on the way back to the pub, (well, you need a stiff drink to get over a scary trip like that!), hoping to catch up with Beth Morgan of the Radcliffe Guest House on the way.

Before I passed through the gates that lead back into the churchyard, I heard a rustling noise coming from a nearby tree. As I looked up to see what had caused the noise, a skeleton jumped out on me, shouting 'Boo!' I can't print what I actually said at that moment in time. Suffice it to say, I was rather glad that I was some way ahead of the children. As I pressed on I was met by a werewolf and a ghost, then just when I thought that would be the end of it 'Death' was lurking in the shadowed cornerstone of St. Mary's. That was enough for me and I hurriedly caught up with Beth.

Once back at the Man of Ross I discovered that lots of fun and games had been laid on for the kids and a great time was had by all.

I almost didn't recognise my friend Judy. She looked fantastic.

Beetlejuice, Tina Jones and Skeletor.

Oh no! It looks as if Ian Phillips has invaded a Zombie's body!

This young man was delighted to have eaten his doughnut from the string before anybody else.

Manning the barbecue for the kids.

URGHH! The horrible things kids wll put their hands into just to get a free toy.
