14th September 2011 THE ACORNS GANG BANK HOLIDAY FUN

The Ross Acorns Support Group had a very busy Bank Holiday weekend, raising lots of money for the Acorns Childrens Hospice. On Sunday, 28th August, a good number turned up to take part in the charity fancy dress bike ride. The weather wasn't great but nobody seemed to mind as they set off to make their way from the Man of Ross to the Harp at Hoarwithy and back.

The ride seemed to pass without any major incident apart from, that is, the tandem being ridden by the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin broke down. Robin, aka Ian Phillips was gutted as once again his chances of arriving home first were thwarted. During last year's event, when dressed as Elvis, his tyre was punctured. Never mind Ian. There is always next year.

After the ride a barbecue was held outside the Man of Ross and a raffle helped to boost their funds for Acorns.

14th September 2011 ACORNS GANG HIT THE WHITE LION

After the fun of their bike ride was over, many of the Acorns Gang decided to ehad to the White Lion Inn at Wilton, where Dave and Jacqui Newman had arranged for the Double Barrell Band to perform. Many people turned up to see this great local band play and Dave and Jacqui very kindly allowed the Acorns group to collect donations for the charity.

The dance floor was busy for almost the whole evening and quite a few laughs rang out as Acorns girls, Debbie and Mandy decided to try their hand at pole dancing. It was a really great evening and was lovely to catch up with all at the White Lion.

14th September 2011 BANK HOLIDAY FUN AT THE PLOUGH FOR ACORNS

On the Bank Holiday Monday, a Fun Day took place at The Plough Inn, Overross to raise even more funds for Acorns. The garden was packed with people enjoying the fun of tug of war, skittles, stalls and the barbecue. Sally burns kept people entertained with her great vocal talent and a raffle with many excellent prizes donated by local people and businesses was held. I was extremely pleased to win a bottle of port, myself!

Between the two great events held that weekend well over £2,000 was raised for Acorns. Well done to all concerned.
