INTO 2011 AT ROSS MARKET HOUSE.........

Welcoming in the New Year at Ross Market House is one of our favourite events here at Wyenot News and the arrival of 2011 was the best ever. Having set the camera up at around twenty minutes to the crucial hour, we watched the people arrive. They gathered slowly in twos and threes at first, gradually increasing in number until, it seemed almost suddenly, there were hundreds of revellers waiting to wish each other a Happy New Year.

Shortly before Midnight, Councillor Gordon Lucas and his wife, Margaret came across the market place to talk to us and there were the usual requests by many young people for photographs of themselves with their friends. When the New Year arrived, the cheers and screams of 'Happy New Year' were almost deafening and the whole event was full of good spirit and trouble free. We were especially pleased to note that the Christmas tree remained un-climbed and un-spoilt.

We met many lovely people as well as good friends and a couple of family members there and this New Year felt very, very special. We wish all Wyenot News readers, wherever you are, a very happy and prosperous 2011.

The ever growing crowd waits for the magic hour to arrive.

Just a few more minutes to wait.

There were lots of New Years hugs and kisses.

Soon after Midnight, fireworks were set off . . . .

. . . . beautifully lighting up the New Year sky.
