SURPRISE WATER LEVELS ON THE RIVER WYE AT ROSS...

For those readers, mainly abroad who like to be kept regularly up to date via 'Wyenot' with the water levels on the River Wye, these photos were taken on Sunday morning. It was quite a surprise, following what had been a couple of dry, sunny days here, to find the Wye had risen drastically over night. There must have been some seriously heavy rain in Wales last week for this to happen.

The water was not at flood level and has since returned to normal following the first rise of the summer, during which I filmed the Ross to Symonds Yat journey on the Wye but judging by the start of this week, I think we will have some more usual flood levels during October.

Swans on the bank at Wilton

I am not a plant expert, so don't know what these are but they look pretty lining the river bank...

...but I can recognize apples without having to look them up.
