go to Councillor Jo Lane who was elected as Mayor of Ross-on-Wye
on Monday, 10th May. Outgoing Mayor, Councillor John Edwards
placed the Mayoral gown over Councillor Lane's shoulders
then placed the Mayor's Chain of Office around her neck,
wishing her every success for her term of office. Councillor
Edwards then addressed the meeting which took place in the
Edwards had worked extremely hard during his term as Ross
Town Mayor, he was an instigator of the Ross Sports &
Leisure Federation and actively supported the newly formed
Association of Ross Traders, (ART). Councillor Edwards and
his wife, Mayoress, Sue also raised approximately £15,000
for Ross Macmillan Cancer Support and presented Chair, Pauline
McRae with a cheque, for which Macmillan are extremely grateful.
Edwards also made a presentation to Iris Price in recognition
of all the voluntary work she does for the town of Ross-on-Wye.
In closing, councillor Edwards said that he had thoroughly
enjoyed his term as Mayor of Ross-on-Wye but was pleased
to now be handing over this role to JO
Lane is a local person. She was born and brought up in Ross-on-Wye
and she and her husband, Rob run a local business. Her well
known father, the late Martin Morris had suffered from Macular
Disease, so Mayor Lane's chosen charity for her term of
office is the Macular Society.
