St.
Peter's Church in Peterstow has undergone quite a transformation
recently and is now not only a place of worship, it is a
place for for the whole community to use and enjoy.
The
pews have been removed and replaced with comfortable chairs
and there is plenty of space for the residents of Peterstow
to use as a village community centre, to hold meetings,
lunch clubs or small celebrations whilst leaving the far
end of the church in its original from, although in a better
state of repair, creating a wonderful blend of modern day
life with a traditional place of worship.
On
Saturday afternoon, those involved in the renovation project
invited local residents to a special reopening ceremony,
where they could view the light and airy community space,
the new toilets and kitchen whilst enjoying some refreshments
laid on by the PCC.
We
spoke to Pat Brown and Max about the project, which took
around six years to fund and five months to carry out. We
wish all at St. Peter's every success and hope that the
local community takes advantage of all the hard work you
have all put in.
