Switch on at the Gresleys Helps Macmillan

Last Saturday's official switch-on of the Christmas lights in the Gresleys raised a magnificent £746.68 towards the oncology unit which is planned for Hereford Hospital. The funds were raised during the switch-on party by residents of the street by selling hot-dogs and holding a tombola, guess the weight of the cake competition and a Frosty Friends treasure hunt, as well as collecting money from visitors in buckets. (In buckets from visitors, I mean - amusing editorial blunder.)

Photos of some of the individual house lights in the street can be seen below. I went back to take the photos on Saturday as there were far too many people milling around to make a good job of photographing them during the official switch-on evening.

Pictured below are Gresleys residents Barbara and John Lewis, Kate Bryan and Pam Allen handing a cheque for the fantastic sum of money raised to Brian and Pauline McRae of Macmillan on Friday, 8th December. Well done all those who took part and donated money. You all did a brilliant job for a very worthy cause and the lights look great!

The Gresleys Illuminations

As promised in last week's edition of Wyenot News, here are some of the photographs I took of the fantastic Christmas lights at The Gresleys. There was an official switching on ceremony on Saturday 2nd December, but there were too many people around at the time for me to be able to take any clear shots of individual houses. I returned to the scene last Saturday, when things were a little quieter and the results can be seen below.

More Christmas lights can be seen on page five.
