Eve 2004 attracted
the largest and most friendly crowd I have personally seen in
many years to Ross-on-Wye Market Place. Thinking that perhaps
not much would be going on, as we had not heard much noise coming
from the town area, Tina and I didn't leave home until around
11:30 pm. We had only made it as far as Brookend Street however
when the first two girls of many stopped us, wanting me to take
their photograph. They are pictured left - Becci and Kayleigh.
moment on, I was stopped every few seconds - 'Please take my
photograph and put me in the Ross Gazette and on Wyenot.com?'
can't promise the Ross Gazette as I don't work there, as such
- I just take some of the Gazette's photos. I'll send them all
in but then it's up to the editor to decide. I can include
most who asked here however. I have excluded some of those who
simply jumped up in front of the camera as this method of getting
seen does not result in the best quality photograph or photographer's
willingness to publish the result.
below of the crowd was taken just seconds before midnight and
shows just how many people actually turned up to welcome in
the New Year. From there on you can see the photos of all those
who asked. These continue over several pages of this week's
when we went for a drink in the Man of Ross and the Hope &
Anchor. Tina commented, 'I bet you've never been called "Babe"
by so many teenage girls in your life before!' I can only assume
it was my woolly hat that did it!
