Boxing Day Rugby - The Chris Green Memorial Cup

The older generation playing against the youger generation has become a Boxing Day tradition for Ross Rugby Club, which was formed in 1873. In modern times, this cup game is played in memory of the late Chris Green.

This year's match was an entertaining affair with the youngsters winning 41 - 24. With just ten minutes to go the score was locked at 24 a piece but eventually, despite the efforts of the older players the Spring Chickens pushed ahead, Adam Clement and Gareth Holdsworth scoring late into the match.

Many thanks to the ladies of the club, who prepared half time refreshments of port, cheese and mince pies for the players.

Ross-on-Wye During 2004

A medieval Condor moment?

In last week's issue of 'Wyenot News,' I mentioned that 'Next week I would be publishing a photographic review of the year 2004.' Having thought about this more seriously since however, I have come to the conclusion that perhaps this would be a bit like the BBC using the, 'another chance to see' excuse to show a repeat. Over the past year, I have taken literally thousands of Ross-on-Wye topical photographs and the most interesting events which I have photographed are already covered on this web site. I rarely remove pages, so all I need do in actual fact is point the viewer of the 'Wyenot News' in the right direction. To this end, I have put links below to pages already covering the various events which have taken place throughout the year.

I have of course photographed events which are not on this web site but these are generally not of much interest other than to those personally involved, or they are of events which have taken place in schools. I have covered some school events on this web site but I generally worry about publishing close-up photographs of school children on the internet and so only cover school events for the newspapers.

Links to most of this year's events are below. I hope you have found this web site both interesting and useful throughout the year and I wish you a happy and prosperous 2005!
