Ross Lions Firework Display

This year's Ross Lions Bonfire Night, in the grounds of the Chase Hotel took place on Saturday, 6th November. The lighting of the bonfire by the Scouts took place at 7:00 pm with the fireworks starting at 7:30. The display seemed better than ever this year. Light rain, which started on cue at 7:30 did nothing to dampen spirits and the fireworks were watched by a huge crowd.

Ross Lions charge a very reasonable entry fee compared to organized firework displays in other towns for this annual event, which is the Lions main fund raising event of the year. Ross Lions support some very good local causes with money raised helping the elderly, the handicapped and young people. Recently they installed a lift for a boy with cerebral palsy, an exercise machine for sufferers of Multiple Scleroses. As well as local charities, the Lions also support international disaster funds and raise money for the John Kyrle High School project of building a well in Kisiki, Uganda.

See below for more photographs from the display.

Now is the time for all good men (and women) . . .

'Empty your glasses, get off your bottoms and clear off home!'
(Not quite how it used to be phrased but I'm sure you get the gist!)

Before you do that however . . .

Why not spend the evening meeting old Potters Bar friends in the original
'Potters Bar' building for a

Potters Bar Reunion

Conservatory - Hope & Anchor

Original Potters Bar Music - recordings of the original juke box records!
At least one original barman - less hair than in those days but will wear a hat to hide it!
Even those who were under age are welcome - You must be old enough by now!

Saturday 27th November 2004 - 8:00 pm until 11:10 PRECISELY!!!
(Not overly serious about that last bit.)

Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, John Cleese, The Eagles, Steely Dan, Queen, Mott the Hoople, Bob Marley,
