Ross-on-Wye's
neighbouring market town, Ledbury, Herefordshire
is located approximately ten miles north west of Ross, at National
Grid Reference SO 711 375.
Ledbury
is a beautiful old market town with plenty to see, including the
Market House, which stands on large oak pillars. A free to enter
folk museum is located in 'Butcher Row House', Church lane which
is well worth a visit. In the 16th century, 'Butcher Row House'
was part of a row of houses in the middle of High Street but was
demolished circa 1830. The house was then re-erected in a High
Street back yard before eventually being moved to Church Lane
in 1979, by the Ledbury and District Society.
Ledbury
also has a traditional style railway
station, which is well worth a visit, if only to visit to
see the wooden ticket office.
