The New Year's Day 'fun run' from Hole-in-the-Wall to Ross-on-Wye has been a traditional way of blowing the cobwebs off after the night before for many years now. The last time I personally joined in was in the mid 1980s, when it used to finish at the Hope & Anchor.

These days, the finish is at the Rowing Club and this year I attended just to take photographs of the start and finish, completing the four miles between in my car. (Well, I do walk an average of fifteen miles per day, six day per week in my job as a postman. I had a twenty three hour day on New Year's Eve and I am older than Postman James, who took part). Some excuse!
