The
village of Fawley, Herefordshire
is about a seven mile scenic walk, cycle ride or, although it
grieves me to mention it, drive from Ross-on-Wye. The route
follows a pretty lane which mostly runs parallel to the River
Wye. If cycling or driving, start out at Brampton
Street and keep going, past Brampton
Abbotts until you reach the footbridge at Foy; or if walking
it is even nicer to take the Wye Valley Walk as far as Foy,
via Backney.
The footbridge is a lovely place from which to admire the view
before continuing to Hole-in-the-Wall, following the lane and
keeping the river to your left. At the How Caple junction, turn
left and continue towards Fawley.
The
photographs below were taken early morning on Sunday 28th July
2002 as a way of trying to forget the pain my wisdom teeth were
causing. With ibuprofen levels topped up to the maximum dosage
and cycling from my home in Ross at around 5:30 am, I was back
again before the rest of the household had awoken, still worrying
about the looming visit to the dental hospital but with twenty
eight nice photographs to show for it. If you would like to
