The market
town of Ross-on-Wye is not only a place to visit during the summer
months - it is a nice place to visit at Christmas time, or to
see in the new year. A Christmas Carnival takes place soon after
dark, every year, on the Saturday before Christmas. Santa makes
a special visit to the town during the carnival to give a small
present to all children in town who visit the Market House to
see him. Ross also has lots of nice independently run gift and
food shops, which are great for Christmas shopping.
Although entry
to some venues on New Year's Eve require a pre-booked ticket,
many do not and both local people and visitors alike meet at the
Market House at midnight on New Year's Eve to celebrate.
The two short
films below show Ross during the run-up to Christmas time and
over the New Year period. If you would like to visit Ross during
this period, it is best to book accommodation early. Places to
stay or shop can be found by using the buttons above.
